Nothing says summer to me quite like ice cream! When we first moved to Winnipeg. One of the things that shocked us was the weather, how can a place that gets so cold, get so hot?! Nicknamed Winterpeg for a reason, so how can there be so many 30C+ days?! Truly amazing the contrast between the seasons here.
Luckily Winnipeg has a lot of sweet treats to help cool you off, from unique flavours to the classics, there is something for everyone! Today we are highlighting our Top 10. Of course, there is definitely more out there for you to explore beyond this list. These are just our go-to time and time again. These local businesses will surely be a sweet addition to your summer!

Sargeant Sundae
Not many places have banana milkshakes anymore, but Sargeant Sundae does! This is why it has always been on the top of the list every time I make them. The other reason it is our #1, is their PUMPKIN PIE SOFT SERVE! The biggest highlight of fall in Winnipeg is the return of their pumpkin pie soft serve and ice cream cakes. Great selection from 24 hard ice cream flavours, to flurries, and more. Lovely location just across the road from Assiniboine Park.

BDI – Bridge Drive-In
The collaborations with Jenna Rae Cakes were my must-have items every time we’ve gone. Definitely my favourite however, I am unsure if it will be coming back this year. I sure hope so! They have a large menu with a lot of nostalgic items. Vegan options as well! Grab your treat and enjoy a stroll across the bridge!

Milksmith
Probably the most unique and fun ice cream spot in Winnipeg. Perfect date night treat. From ice tacos to waffle pops and beyond. There are a ton of customization options. The creativity is just amazing from the interior design to the ice cream flavours etc. A must-do in Winnipeg! Their collaborations are always a hit from Oh Doughnuts to Jenna Rae Cakes, Baked Expectations and so many other delicious Winnipeg icons.

Chaeban Ice Cream
Anna Bananutella, Mustang Sally, and Salty Carl are my go-to flavours. Their pints are available across Winnipeg, I prefer to stock up on pints when I go to St. Leon Gardens. Even better is stopping into their location on Osborne and ordering a flight! Try multiple flavours and see why they won the best ice cream in Canada Award at the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair in Toronto this year,

Small but mighty shop! Smaller selection than some shops but fun flavours! I had cookie dough and dunkaroo while Josh did black cherry and strawberry cheesecake. Yum!

Fête Ice Cream & Coffee
Like Chaeban I always stock up on pints when I go to St. Leon Gardens. Fete has a nice selection of vegan, dairy free, and gluten-free. I love the wide variety of their flavours. Peanut Butter Oreo Crunch, Honeycomb, and Blueberry Cheesecake are our faves. They even have Pup Cones for your furry family members!

Neon Cone
Ice cream and a walk around The Forks? Yes, please! Vegan options? Even better.

Dug and Betty’s
If you are vegan or dairy-free this is a must-go! Dairy-Free, Vegan, and Gluten-Free options! Including Vegan Cookie Dough and Oatmeal Apple Caramel Crunch. Not the usual boring 1 type of vegan soft serve only here!
